Tooth whitening
In regard to teeth, bright and white is best. Tooth whitening is the number-one dental cosmetic procedure world wide.
This is a simple procedure, but it should be carried out by the professional dental team
With a complete assessment of your current dental condition and what degree of whitening realistically, you can achieve.
Whitening involves applying a gel to the teeth, this can be done in two ways:
- The ‘at home’ system. Special custom made trays are constructed at the practice which allow you to apply the whitening gel at home to your teeth. Most patients need about ten applications, for a few hours daily.
- The ‘in chair’ system. Stronger concentrations of gel are used in the dental chair with a special light. I use a system from the USA called Nite White for the trays and ZOOM! for the ‘in chair’ technique. It takes about 90 minutes to apply the gels in the chair and it is best to also do 10-14 applications of home whitening as well to make sure the colour change lasts.
The whitening effect lasts for about 1 to 2 years but depends on the individual’s diet and other oral habits such as smoking. However touch up re-whitening is very easy by applying the tray with some gel at home every 6 months or so as needed.
Cost on average
Zoom and custom trays with top up gel £347
