Perfecting your beautiful smile with Invisalign Maidstone
What is Invisalign Maidstone?
In simple terms, they are clear, removable retainers that gently push the teeth into a newly aligned position. Whilst in previous years the only option to accomplish this realignment has been the use of chunky, metal braces, modern advances both in knowledge and equipment have combined cosmetic genius with orthodontic treatments to provide discrete but effective realignment methods.
How does the process work?
Before beginning any treatment plan it is important for the patient to understand what they are getting themselves into. This means the long and short term benefits, the commitment to the treatment and all the other finer details both positive and potentially negative. This is why we always book a consultation appointment before taking the leap with any treatment or procedure.
During the consultation, a discussion will take place about the treatment. This includes your commitment to the process, as this relies heavily on the patient, and if you are choosing this option a thorough examination will take place along with a series of photographs, x-rays, digital plans and in some cases moulds. These images will help create a 3D plan for you which is of great importance as you do not need to visualise the process in your head but can actually view your journey with Invisalign Maidstone using the top technology. The end result will then be presented to you so that you can have the treatment with a visual image of your end goal.
Following on from your consultation, the images including any moulds which may have been taken will be sent off so as to have your custom made retainers created. Within 2 weeks these will be back with your dental team and an appointment will take place to show you how to effectively use the retainers and how long the first set should be worn. That is right, the first set, as you will receive a series of retainers that will gently push your teeth into their new aligned position.
How to get the best results
Each set is to be worn for approximately 22 hours a day with removal being for specific times such as food consumption, no one wants food stuck in the retainer, and during your oral hygiene process. Removal during these daily occurrences enables patients to maintain and improve their oral hygiene process whilst receiving treatment. Although the majority of the treatment relies upon the patient’s commitment, it is important to have regular check-ups with your dental team to ensure the treatment is progressing according to plan. Approximately every 4 to 6 weeks your dental team will expect to see you so any adjustments, questions or concerns can be addressed during this time. If at anytime the treatment becomes uncomfortable though it is important to contact your dental team promptly as the treatment should cause minimal to no discomfort throughout the entire process.
Once the desired result has been gained it is important to maintain it as teeth can, if the necessary precautions are not taken, drift back into their natural positioning. At the end of the Invisalign Maidstone treatment, a new set of retainers will therefore be created and are to be worn ongoing similarly to your previous sets, though these ones are focused on maintaining the perfected smile.
All dental treatments and procedures, whether extensive or minimally invasive, can carry potential side effects. All patients are therefore encouraged to seek further information and advice from their local dental team on any mentioned within this article.
